When President Dwight Eisenhower left office he said our country was in danger of being taken over by a military-industrial-academic complex. He was talking about the creation of a standing army which could destroy our democracy and world peace. It appears he was correct. So, we Americans have a special responsibility to expose and dismantle the war machine which works for global corporations and not for us. The funds we need for decent paying jobs, universal health care, quality education, help for the poor, alternative energy sources, and our local economy are being used to build an empire-class war machine which is fascist in character with its internal repression through the Patriot and Homeland Security Acts.
