Happy first day of the session! I noticed a few new bills that might go on our tracking sheet.
Health care:
SB12 OUT-OF-STATE TELEHEALTH PROVIDERS -
I will add(Antoinette Sedillo Lopez, SHPAC/SJC)
We were expecting a bill on this. It's certainly needed.
Voting & Elections
SB16 NON-MAJOR PARTY VOTERS IN PRIMARY ELECTIONS -
on our list, now has a number(Natalie Figueroa, Peter Wirth, SRC/SJC)
I haven't finished reading this one, but the introduction sounds good.
Environment
SB23 OIL & GAS ROYALTY RATE CHANGES -
on our list now has a number - it is under Budget & TaxesI'm sure the Environment committee is on top of this one so I'll leave it to them to say if it's a good bill.
Education
SB13 STATE-TRIBAL EDUCATION COMPACT SCHOOLS ACT -
Meredith said we do not have a position, but is covered under the Tribal Collaboration Act
I haven't read this one either, but our Education experts can tell us if it's a good bill, maybe helping with Yazzie-Martinez?
Crime
SB18 CRIME OF SWATTING -
Let's discuss(Craig W. Brandt, SJC/SFC)
I think this is covered by quite a few of the items in our Administration of Justice position; if it's not obvious, I could go into more detail. I'd really like to see a bill making police departments accountable for swatting so they'd be more cautious, but I guess that isn't very likely.
SB20 INCREASE CIGARETTE & TOBACCO PRODUCTS TAXES -
This is on our list, now has a number(Martin Hickey, STBTC/SFC)
I haven't read it but since Dick mentioned alcohol taxes I thought I'd mention this similar one.
