Â
The League of Women Voters of New Mexico stands in strong support of the $500 Million budget request for the NM Housing Trust Fund in SB145.  Â
Â
According to two recent state and National studies the need for affordable housing in our State is at a critical juncture.   This appropriation will provide the needed funding to rehabilitate or build new housing to help alleviate  the current housing market supply crisis.
Â
An important provision in SB145 provides for a 10% ten percent set aside to a municipality or county. This provides a strategic  tool for local communities to directly address the housing needs in their community -- urban or rural.
The League urges the committee to give this bill/ SB145 a ‘do pass’ recommendation.Â
Thank you Senator Gonzales, for your leadership to ensure affordable housing options are available for all New Mexicans. Â
