Today's SJC's revised agenda has SB250 on the agenda and is being heard now. (SB 250 prohibits use of state and local funds for law enforcement assistance with mass deportation and immigration enforcement. Sen. Stewart is a firm advocate. HB9 Immigrant Safety Act has passed the House floor, 35-25.

Education bills, including SJR15 State School Board, are proceeding nicely.

This morning in SFC, HB11 PFML was dissected in detail by committee members with SFC analysts answering questions. Sens. Padilla and Steinborn vigorously objected to the process because the  sponsors were not present, and they had not even been invited. Many concerns about the source of funding for the "Welcome baby fund," which proposes paying a new eligible parent $3000/mo for 3 months. Sen. Padilla made it clear that he will oppose having any funds come out of the Early Childhood Trust Fund (and I know that NM Voices for Children and the governor would also be opposed if that were identified/proposed as a source.)  We supported the original HB11, which was totally revamped without Sen. Stewart's knowledge or input from the PFML Coalition. I doubt that it will get to the governor's desk.

Other bills that are exciting, important, and moving along are the Health Care Compacts.

I'm in an LWVNM-EF meeting until 6 and wanting to observe SJC, so I am signing off now.

Subject: [LWVNM Action] Action Zoom meeting - should we move it to Thursday

I am not able ot make the meeting this evening and Akkana said that internet is down for Los Alamos.

Question - should we move the Action meeting to Thursday at 6 pm?
