"Liberty and justice for all."

It’s not a mindless phrase. It’s a promise – one we must fight to keep.

Without laws, there is no liberty.
Without liberty, democracy is lost.

For 105 years, the League of Women Voters of Colorado has stood on the frontlines, defending our democracy. But today, lawlessness threatens everything we’ve built.

On June 20, 2024, we gather to honor those who are fighting back:

⚖   Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser – Defending voting rights.
🏛  District Attorney Daniel Rubinstein – Upholding election integrity.

Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser
District Attorney Daniel Rubinstein
21st Judicial District, Colorado

University of Denver | 4:30* – 7:00 PM
(Arrive Early! Happy Hour & Mingling from 4:30 - 5:00 PM)

Join us. Defend democracy.

Rescuing Democracy From Tech Bros

Tuesday, March 25, 2025
6 p.m. EDT // 5 p.m. CDT // 4 p.m. MDT // 3 p.m. PDT // 2 p.m. AKDT
Hosted on Zoom.

Presented in partnership with the Leagues of Women Voters of Alaska and Colorado.

We'll be joined by Anne Applebaum who a staff writer for The Atlantic and a Pulitzer-prize winning historian. She is also a senior fellow at the SNF Agora Institute and the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, where she co-directs Arena, a program on disinformation and 21st century propaganda.

Her newest book, Autocracy, Inc., published in 2024, gives an alarming account of how autocracies work together to undermine the democratic world, and how we should organize to defeat them. Prior to that, her book, The Twilight of Democracy: The Seductive Lure of Authoritarianism, explained why some of her contemporaries have abandoned liberal democratic ideals in favor of strongman cults, nationalist movements, or one-party states.

On April 5, national and local organizations are coming together across the country to organize for Hands Off!

HANDS OFF of Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, Our Jobs, Our Wallets, Our Bodies, Fair Elections, Personal Data, Public Lands, Veterans Services, Cancer Research NATO, Consumer Protections, Clean Air, Clean Energy, Schools, Libraries, Free Speech, LGTBQ+ Rights, Immigrants, Courts and More!
