Please join us at the Interstate Stream Commission meeting on MONDAY, OCTOBER 27th to show your opposition to a Gila River diversion project. The meeting will be held at the Albuquerque Government Center, Vincent E. Griego Chambers, 1 Civic Plaza NW, in downtown Albuquerque. The Gila River portion of the agenda starts at 10:25 am. We are about 6 weeks away from the Interstate Stream Commission's decision on whether or not to divert the Gila River under Arizona Water Settlements Act. This project is tremendously expensive (construction, OM&R and exchange costs estimated at $1.1 billion), will yield little to no water according to the latest analyses from former ISC director Norm Gaume, and will negatively impact the hydrology and ecology of the Gila River according to the recently released Gila River Flow Needs Assessment. Even if you can’t stay for the whole meeting, it is important to show up and sign-in to register your attendance. If you want to make your voice heard please contact Sharon Wirth for public comment opportunities or Staci Stevens for Letters to the Editor opportunities. We will also be at the meeting and would be happy to talk with you there. Thank you for your continued support! ~ Staci Stevens, Audubon New Mexico
