For anyone looking to expand their been-there/done-that . . . See below the message from Tom Riggenbach director of www.navajoYES.org about this event traveling primitive roads deep into the Chuska Mountains on the Navajo Reservation . . . This year's Chuska promises to be a great event with a festival camping atmosphere, multiple distance routes,  times segments for the ambitious rides traveling up to high point places (like the 9400 ft elev Roof Butte over-looking the Shiprock formation), but an otherwise casual mtb granfondo type event with support and feed stations along the way. Feel free to contact myself or Tom with any questions.

Just a quick heads-up for all of you interested in this year's Chuska.

The ride is set for the weekend of October 9-11, with a stunning base camp up in the Chuskas near Roof Butte.  Our camp will be at 8000 feet at the summer camp of the Nakai family.

The routes will be awesome and you won't have quite as much work to do to get to the good stuff in the highcountry!   We have some really cool new features this year and will have all the details out soon.  Registration will open next week.

On a side note, NavajoYES is working with the Navajo Nation on some amazing bike initiatives that will have get bikes into communities across the Nation and will lead to the creation of a vast network of bike trails.  You will find out more about this over the coming months and we will give you a full story in October.  Be part of a bike revolution in Dine' Bikeyah!

See you all soon!
Tom
