All, I still have folks ask about the velodrome project I
launched in 1989. The short answer is that it is moribund, but not
gone. Thanks to our NM delegation in DC, one of which recently
declared NM as "unrecoverable", which got a WTF from me. So here's
the deal and yep, it involves you. I'm Libertarian and happily
voted for Gary. I know that the majority of you are Democrats. We
need to hold our noses and write to Trump directly.
The letter should urge the President to have Congress act to add
Keirin racing to the list of exemptions to the Professional and
Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) 1993. Here is a link to the
PASPA hurdle" https://www.abqkeirin.com/ Click on the PASPA link
to refresh or understand what a simple clerical error has caused
in keeping the project from fruition. There are investors waiting
and willing to proceed with a velodrome once the exemption is
added. Please don't beat me up over the gambling, it well
established in NM and the primary reason (I feel) that our elected
delegates don't want to upset the cash stream from the Tribes.
Short answer to that is that the Bicycle Racing Act (Google it) is
grandfathered in the Indian Gaming Compact and the Tribes can't
stop us with that exemption in hand. Let's get it done!
