Subject: [NMCycling] Looking for a 6,800' Climb
New Mexico Cycling Colleagues:
I'm looking for a steady 6,800' climb, preferably dirt. It's one of
those odd birthday goals that attracts some of us once we can't keep up
anymore....
I thought Water Canyon from Socorro to the Langmuir Lab would do, but
it's a 1,000' short, as is Sandia Summit from the river via Placitas and
165.
I'm not looking for multiple climbs that would total 6,800', rather one
climb (some dips along the way are fine). Any type is fine - single
track, jeep, forest service, BLM roads etc. The less pavement the
better.
My time frame is pretty loose so travelling a bit is fine. Silver
Canyon from the Owens River up towards the Patriarch Forest in the White
Mountains qualifies, but damn, that's steep!
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Howard Snell
