Good Evening League Members,

This week we lost one of our treasured long time members, John Hill. Please take a minute today to remember him and think about his wife Ruth. They have always been important members of our community.

This is a reminder that we have no more meetings in April and we are postponing our Annual Meeting that had been scheduled for May 2 until a later time. In the meantime, work on the primary election Voter Guide continues. It is not clear just how we are going to vote this year, but we should know more soon.

The League of Women Voters of New Mexico and other groups have worked together to file an friend of the court brief in support of New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver and several county clerks who are seeking a safer way to conduct the June and November elections. Here’s a link to the news release.  This will be heard by the NM Supreme Court on April 14. Depending on how the court rules, we may need help educating voters about any changes in the election process.

This is a strange and anxious time for everyone, but the League is here to help members in any way we can. If you need help, please reach out.

Please stay safe and healthy,

Karen Wentworth
