Hello, Members!
Here are some tips from Trish Lopez and Teeniors for accessing Zoom for our unit meeting at noon on Thursday.
Thank you for your continued support of the League of Women Voters Central New Mexico. In an effort to stay connected through the pandemic, our board has decided to experiment with a monthly "Lunch and Learn" from home. What used to be our regular in-person unit meetings at Embassy Suites, will now be temporarily replaced during Covid. We're excited about this opportunity to bring you conversations with local leaders in New Mexico politics from the comfort of your home. On [date] at [time], we will try out our first presentation, by using Zoom - an online video conference tool.
Zoom is an easy-to-use website on your computer at home (or an app on your tablet/smartphone). All you need to do is click on the invitation link below to join the "meeting". The first time you join a Zoom meeting, you will be prompted to download Zoom software which only takes about one minute. Then you can fully participate. When we, as the "host", start the meeting, your screen will automatically connect and show you our faces. We're confident you'll find this to be a fun and easy web tool to manage as we all settle in at home for a while.
Here are quick instructions for downloading Zoom on your phone or tablet:
If you use a computer, simply visit the www.zoom.com to "join a meeting".
If you have an iPhone or iPad:
· From the main screen, find and tap on your "App Store" icon (a blue icon, with an odd looking A encircled).
If you have an Android phone / Tablet (Samsung and other non-Apple brands):
· From the main screen, find and tap on your "Google Play" icon (usually white with a colorful "play button" type triangle on it).
- On either device, you should now be in your app store, where you can download website applications.
- Once you are in, use the search bar (or spyglass icon) to type in Zoom.
- The Zoom app is free to download and use.
- You will be asked for your Apple ID password or Google password to approve the download.
- Once you have the app downloaded, you can "attend" the meeting, or any other meeting via Zoom in the future, by clicking on the link sent to you.
NOTE: Downloading is one step. Creating an account is another step. You only need to "create an account" on Zoom if you wish to create your own meetings using Zoom.
If any of the above does not work for you, please note your problem or question so that we can arrange help for you.
Thank you!
Trish Lopez
