Hello-

We hope you will save a couple of hours on Saturday morning, August 29 to virtually attend a meeting to plan our calendar for the coming year. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Plan for it to last until about noon.

This is an important meeting because we will decide what kind of issues we want to learn about at our regular monthly meetings. Think about what the important issues will be after the election and what our organization needs to do in our community.

We missed our normal planning session in June, hoping that we could meet in person later. But for the foreseeable future it appears we will meet via Zoom. Here is your invitation. We will open the meeting about 10 minutes in order to give everyone time to sign in and greet your friends.

We’ve also included a couple of articles to remind us about the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment that we celebrate this month. It is a difficult celebration because the League of Women Voters is beginning to acknowledge how the right to vote granted in the amendment extended only to white women at the time. Universal suffrage came decades later. So we celebrate, but we also reflect about how history might have been different.
