Good evening. As many of you know, LWVNM and its Fair Districts for New Mexico project is strongly supporting redistricting reform, including the creation of a state redistricting commission that would develop plans and maps for new congressional, state legislature and Public Education Commission districts.

HB 211 Redistricting Act has been filed, and the House State Government, Elections and Indian Affairs Committee (HSEIC) will hold a hearing, hopefully very soon.

Fair Districts for New Mexico (FDNM) needs the help of League members to contact legislators to state your support of HB 211. Please see the FDNM Update attached to this post. The Update states that legislators’ office phones are only answered on weekdays, adding that emails are not effective means of reaching legislators.

FDNM asks that League members call the HSEIC members -- this MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1 – to express their support for HB 211. Members’ names and phone numbers are on the attached Update.
