On Saturday, April 17th at 1:30 p.m. the League of Women Voters of Central New Mexico will hold a seminar on Ranked Choice Voting. This method of voting is designed to eliminate the need for runoff elections in case one candidate does not receive more than 50 percent of the vote.

Ranked Choice Voting is an issue of ongoing interest to citizens of New Mexico. Santa Fe and Las Cruces currently use the ranked choice voting method to elect city officials. Albuquerque City Council has discussed implementing Ranked Choice Voting, but at this point there is no proposal before the Albuquerque City Council. Mario Jimenez from Common Cause will be our guest speaker. Common Cause, which frequently collaborates with the League of Women Voters of New Mexico, has endorsed Ranked Choice Voting.

I have attached some background material to help you understand the issue. That will make is easier to participate in the discussion.

Here is the zoom invitation.
