The US is still almost the only country in the world to not have any federal required paid maternity leave.
There have been several attempts in the last few years, but they didn’t go anywhere nationally.
I think a few states have passed it, though.
“There are five states in the United States that do provide paid maternity leave and they are California, Massachusetts, Georgia, New Jersey, and Rhode Island”
Maybe this time it will go farther in NM.
This and child care could be good issues for the League to get involved in, especially if we hope to attract younger members.
