Thank you for the presentation today, LWVCNM team! Can you share the recording with those of us who couldn't attend the entire mtg?

RE: the question I asked our speaker at the end -- I followed up via email just now to say that I was the one who mentioned getting a hotel for the people on San Mateo and Zuni last weekend; and that if she have any other ideas besides calling 311 -- i.e., pamphlets / cards that we can hand out to unhoused people letting them know their options? -- to please let me know. I'll keep you all posted when I hear back.

Also, on Jan 16, CABQ is hosting a really good film from a woman-documentarian called 'A Decent Home,' which shows the challenges for people across the country who are being displaced / unhoused due to investment companies buying up land, and the politicians who allow the displacement. The first screening was last night, the next one is Tues, Jan 16 @ 5:00pm at UNM Law School. It's followed by a great discussion with the filmmaker and I highly recommend attending if you can. Flyer attached.

Cheers!
Trish

Reminder LWVCNM Members,

Our first Educational Lunch and Learn meeting of 2024 is Thursday January 11th at noon. The meeting will be hybrid - in person and on Zoom. The topic is the first of a two part series. A Place to Call Home When You Don’t Have One, Can’t Afford One, or Can’t Find One: Affordable Housing/Homelessness and Regional Plans to Address the Issue, Part One. Part two will be on February 8th 2024.

Our speaker from the Bernalillo County Housing Authority will try to help us understand the Byzantine world of federal/local housing. Bernalillo County housing efforts are focused on low income and very low income families and individuals. As you might have guessed, there are waiting lists for long-term, low income housing that run into years. So what can be done? We will discuss that at our general meeting on January 11th at Noon. We hope to see you there as we explore this complicated subject.

WHEN:    THURSDAY, JAN. 11th  from Noon 1 PM

WHERE:  In person/Zoom, LWVCNM conference room, 6739 Academy Rd NE  (ample lot parking)
