Dear Members,
The League of Women Voters has a robust Immigration policy. >From the LWVUS website
"Immigration policies should promote the reunification of immediate
families, meet economic, business, and employment needs, and be
responsive to those facing political persecution or humanitarian
crises." The anti-immigrant rhetoric during the presidential election was alarming. I am mailing you to let you know about a meeting taking place on Tuesday December 10th. I know it is short notice but we just became aware of the meeting. As a reminder, our December monthly meeting topic on Thursday December 12th at noon is also Immigration.
New Mexico Immigrant Law Center (NMILC) and their partner organizations are holding an immigrant rights "town hall" event next Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 5:30pm at South Valley Academy gymnasium. During this event, they will share information and answer questions, with simultaneous interpretation in Spanish.
"You are invited to join us for this evening of healing, empowerment, and connection as we come together to strengthen relationships and build a united movement. This event will provide a space for communities to find support, feel seen, and engage with base-building organizations. Together, we will foster understanding, overcome fear, and deepen connections to empower individuals and communities alike. Please share these event details with any community members who may want to attend!"
