The 2026 Legislative Session begins on January 20 (and ends on February 19).

The Drop-In Coffee is on January 24 from 10 AM to noon in the conference room.

The next LWVCNM Book Club session is on January 28 at 5:30. The book is The Line Becomes A River – Dispatches from the Border by Francisco Cantú.

The LWVNM League Legislative reception is January 29th from 5:30 to 7:30 at La Fonda in Santa Fe. Speaker: Laura Paskus on Water Issues in New Mexico.

League Day at the Legislature is January 30th.

LWV Press Release - LULAC, Joined by Leading Legacy Civil Rights Organizations, Calls for Congressional Investigation into Recent Federal Immigration Enforcement Actions

There is still time to write a letter to the governor asking her to send a message to include the Freedom to Read New Mexico bills to the 2026 session. One of the three bills has been filed by Representative Cates. The bill is HB26 PROHIBITING BOOK BANNING AT PUBLIC LIBRARIES.

There will be two more bills filed in the near future. One by Senator Pope and the other by Senator Sedillo Lopez.
