*Pet Safety in the Summer Heat*

Although this can be a fun time of the year for your furry friends, it’s
also important to remember that higher temperatures mean higher risks for
pets. To keep your pets safe, follow these safety tips from Animal Welfare:

· Pets can get dehydrated quickly, so give them plenty of fresh,
clean water.

· Know the symptoms of overheating, including excessive panting or
difficulty breathing, increased heart rate, drooling, stupor or even
collapse.

· Never leave your pet alone in a parked vehicle.

· Do not leave pets unsupervised near swimming pools. Not all dogs
are good swimmers and can drown.

· If you are walking your pet, don’t let them linger on hot pavement
as their paws can get burned. If the sidewalk is too hot for you to walk on
your bare feet, it’s too hot for your pet!

For more information on keeping your pets happy and healthy in the summer,

*APD Announces 116 New Officers For Albuquerque*
