Virtual Block Captain Conference This Saturday

The Animal Welfare Department is in urgent need of blankets and towels to help keep shelter pets warm as the temperature drops. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event Coming Up November 13

Got old cans of paint, bottles of weed killer, motor oil, bug spray, cleaning supplies or poisons lying around and want to get rid of them? Pacl them up and take them over to Balloon Fiesta Park on Saturday, November 13 between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., as part of the Solid Waste Management Department's annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event. Items that will be accepted are:

*	Antifreeze
*	Gasoline
*	Cleaning supplies
*	Finishes and stains
*	Aerosols
*	Pesticides/herbicides
*	Poisons

APD Gun Buy Back Event This Saturday, October 30
The Albuquerque Police Department is hosting its second Gun Buy Back event this Saturday, October 30, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., at the Albuquerque Police Crime Lab, 5350 2nd St. NW. The program invites residents to voluntarily turn in firearms in exchange for gift cards, with no questions asked. Members of the Violence Intervention Program will be on hand to distribute crime prevention information and information on laws regarding private gun sales and gun safety. Attendees who participate will be asked to remain in their vehicle while driving through designated areas and gun drop-off location. Firearms must be unloaded and in the trunk of each vehicle. ONC Virtual Lunch and Learn Discusses Crime Stoppers and Neighborhood Safety
You are invited to attend the ONC's upcoming virtual Lunch and Learn panel discussion, How Neighborhoods Can Use Crime Stoppers to Help Prevent Crime, this Thursday, October 28 at 12:00 noon. Panelists include block captains, neighborhood safety patrol members, Crime Prevention staff from the Albuquerque Police Department and staff from the Crime Stoppers program. The discussion will cover the Crime Stoppers program and how it works, how block captains and neighborhood safety patrols can use Crime Stoppers to help address crime in their area, and general tips and ideas for neighborhood safety. The ONC will moderate this online session, which is free, open to the public, and will be recorded and uploaded to the ONC's YouTube channel for those who cannot attend.
