[Neighbors] Classical Guitar Lessons

 John Truitt is the guitar god, both as performer and teacher.  He pretty much kept my son in high school with the guitar program at AHS many years ago.  I highly recommend this as an introduction to acoustic guitar.

 Fundamentals of the Classical Guitar for Beginners
This class is designed for the student who would like to begin playing guitar in the classical tradition, that is by use of the fingers rather than with a pick and on a nylon string guitar. We will cover playing position, proper position of the hands, basic scales and stretches, notes in the open position, open position chords, changing chords, right hand strumming and picking techniques, some simple folk tunes, some flamenco strums, and basic musical notation. Be sure to have a nylon string classical guitar! If you do not have one, we will help you find one. Just let us know ASAP! We will supply all printed materials.

The class will be taught by two seasoned music educators, John Truitt and Lisa O’Riley, both of whom have taught for many years in public and private schools. John Truitt is a professional guitarist who has studied in Spain. This being our first offering of this class, it will be FREE for all students, but future classes may have a fee.
