Whoa! Close call.
Earlier this year, we used some discretionary funds at city council to match funds from Commissioner Hart Stebbins to work with the neighborhood association to remove dead trees on the street.
As a general rule, tree maintenance is the responsibility of the property owner, but the city's crews can trim them if they grow over sidewalks and streets.
If this tree wasn't removed by the owner, please let me know.
Glad you (and the car) are safe!

Just yesterday, I was surveying the multitude of decrepit trees, including this one, and wondering who was responsible for their upkeep. This is one of 4 or 5 at 202 Dartmouth SE, all ready to come down.
This one fell right in front of me and missed a parked vehicle by about 18 inches.
