Chile, Chocolate and Music Come Together for 2016 Chile y Chocolate Special Event

Bernalillo County – Chile, chocolate and music create a special recipe for this year’s Chile y Chocolate event on Friday, September 16 at the historic Gutierrez-Hubbell House.

Stop by from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. for an evening of chef demonstrations, a lively talk on the history of chocolate, and of course inventive chile and chocolate samplings. The Gutierrez-Hubbell House is located at 6029 Isleta Blvd. SW in Bernalillo County’s South Valley, along the Camino Real.

This intimate gathering features chile-inspired products, local chocolatiers and live music by Chris Candelario and others.

Discover the art and history of two important New Mexican staples, Chile y Chocolate, and their rich traditions in the state. Nicolasa Chavez from the Museum of International Folk Art will present “A Very Brief History of Chocolate.”

“Popularly known as a sweet, an antioxidant, or an aphrodisiac, chocolate holds sway as one of the most popular food items in history,” reads a summary of this presentation.

Local food trucks will be on site to offer casual dinners as well.

For more information, visit www.bernco.gov/openspace, or call (505) 314-0398. There is no cost to attend, but remember to bring money for food and treats!
