Dear Friends:   I'd like to invite you to my next monthly neighborhood luncheon on Wednesday, October 19th, noon-1:00pm, at the McKinley Community Center,3401 Monroe NE.  This month’s speaker is Carlos Padilla, Chair-Bernalillo County General Obligation Bond Advocacy Committee.  Carlos will discuss the Bond Questions that will appear on the November Ballot. Bernalillo County’s General Obligation (GO) bond questions are on the ballot in elections held in even-numbered years (the city of Albuquerque holds its GO bond elections in odd-numbered years), and all projects slated for GO bond funding are included in Bernalillo County’s six-year Capital Improvement Plan.  GO Bonds give municipalities a tool to raise funds for capital projects, such as roads & bridges, parks and equipment. They are typically used to fund capital projects that serve & enhance the entire community. The County Commission has the ultimate authority as to which projects receive GO bond funding. After being approved by the voters, GO bonds are sold by the county to bond investors. GO bonds must be sold within three years of voter approval and be fully spent on capital (bricks and mortar) projects, not on daily operations or maintenance, within four years of the bond sale.  This is a Brown Bag lunch.  You bring a sandwich and we will provide the  beverages.
