Subject: [Neighbors] Nob Hill ART sidewalk width details
This was in the latest ART newsletter that came out today:
The final plans for ART include more than 4000’ of wider sidewalks in Nob Hill. This is in addition to the existing sidewalks which were, and continue to be, wider than 6’. When we are complete with ART, more than 80% of the sidewalks will be greater than 8’ wide with the remaining still being 6’ or wider. Also, through the ART project there will be more than 100 new trees planted with more than 90 of those being along the sidewalks.
The sidewalk widths are a balance between keeping the existing parking, which is so valuable to the adjacent businesses, and the sidewalk width for pedestrian activity. The sidewalk widths have not been reduced in any section and never removed from any plans. These have been in the final plans since 2015 and were a result of 4 years of community dialogue.
