Dear Commander Yara,I hope you and your family are well during these uncertain times. Dr. Aguirre is absolutely correct in stating that since this pandemic has begun, high speed reckless driving has escalated to new heights. You see,I stay up very late into the early morning hours working in my front living room, which is on Lead Ave. So, I get to hear cars driving by. Throughout my nightly work times,I find myself holding my breath as I hear high speed engine sounds, usually at least two cars at a time, seemingly racing each other down Lead around Solano, heading toward Carlisle. Why do I hold my breath? It is not a conscious choice, but rather my nerves preparing me for a big crash, which could end up hurting my family or my neighbors. Sometimes, the culprits are not civilians, but police cars and even rescue cars. They also travel at dangerously high speeds up Lead Ave.As stated earlier, based on my own observations from staying up late, recent high speed activity is surpassing what used to be an extremely problematic situation. We are frustrated with the lack of attention from the city about this situation. I do personally thank you, however, for intervening in our behalf. I greatly appreciate it. The reckless driving (speeding, drag racing, etc) is out of control. The street feels lawless.
