Yes, I agree the Lead/Coal Corridor has become dangerous because of too many speeders. Possible solutions could be undercover officers at different times during the day and night and different times during the week with speed checkers in their cars or speed guns to monitor traffic flow. I feel people going 10+ mph over the speed limit should be immediately pulled over to see if their is a good reason like a person is dying in the vehicle or a mom must reach the hospital whereas the police officer(s) could provide an even speedier access to the hospital with their sirens. Now the Marquette Corridor between Washington and Carlisle has also become speed racer heaven with people racing their cars their and going at top speed. Here a different solution such as I suggested with speed humps would be perfect because nobody needs to go through this corridor at a speed faster than 25 mph and the speed humps could be graded to accommodate a top speed of 25 mph without hurting the vehicle.Thoughts on all this,Dan WeiserI am here to help meet your computer needs. On Friday, May 1, 2020, 01:09:30 AM GMT+3, lucille Torres via Neighbors_nobhill-nm <neighbors_nobhill-nm@mailman.swcp.com> wrote:I too have witnessed speedsters up and down Lead and Coal. It has become a race track for some of these people who could care less about the residents along this corridor.Maybe we can set up a volunteer chart and stand the Covid 19, required distance apart on lead and Coal with signs that remind them there are precocious families here that need to be safe.As much as we want to fantasize that crime is down, It isn't down as much as we had hoped for with this virus making it difficult for officers to constantly be patrolling. Issuing tickets would also help. Let the violators feel the money pain.I'm happy to volunteer a couple of mornings or evenings to do this. We could stand at traffic light intersections with our signs so there is no probability of getting Covid 19. One person per light.Any thoughts? Awareness is everything. We can do all we can to modify this behavior. Oh I guess some of us will need to take night shifts. What if we did this for a week? And take pictures of license plates who are speeding, If we can.Joseph had purchased some gear to go to city council. Maybe we can wear that also.?LucilleOn Wednesday, April 29, 2020, 08:43:54 PM MDT, Vincent VanGemert via Neighbors_nobhill-nm <neighbors_nobhill-nm@mailman.swcp.com> wrote:Thread,Being a near neighbor of Eliza, I definitely agree with what she is saying. I could totally get behind a solution like a slalom course on Lead & Coal.-VinceOn Wed, Apr 29, 2020 at 7:25 PM Eliza Peralta via Neighbors_nobhill-nm <neighbors_nobhill-nm@mailman.swcp.com> wrote:Dear Commander Yara,I hope you and your family are well during these uncertain times. Dr. Aguirre is absolutely correct in stating that since this pandemic has begun, high speed reckless driving has escalated to new heights. You see,I stay up very late into the early morning hours working in my front living room, which is on Lead Ave. So, I get to hear cars driving by. Throughout my nightly work times,I find myself holding my breath as I hear high speed engine sounds, usually at least two cars at a time, seemingly racing each other down Lead around Solano, heading toward Carlisle. Why do I hold my breath? It is not a conscious choice, but rather my nerves preparing me for a big crash, which could end up hurting my family or my neighbors. Sometimes, the culprits are not civilians, but police cars and even rescue cars. They also travel at dangerously high speeds up Lead Ave.As stated earlier, based on my own observations from staying up late, recent high speed activity is surpassing what used to be an extremely problematic situation. We are frustrated with the lack of attention from the city about this situation. I do personally thank you, however, for intervening in our behalf. I greatly appreciate it. Thank you, and please, keep it coming! On Wed, Apr 29, 2020 at 3:08 PM Weiser Dan via Neighbors_nobhill-nm <neighbors_nobhill-nm@mailman.swcp.com> wrote:_______________________________________________The Marquette Corridor has also become an area for speeding. This is a long standing problem but diminished traffic volumes associated with the COVID crisis have made drivers bolder and less cautious than ever.
We are grateful for your attention.

Hi Commander Yara,
I hope you and yours are well.
I know it’s a challenging moment all around, but we need APD eyes on Lead-Coal between Washington and Yale.
The reckless driving (speeding, drag racing, etc) is out of control. The street feels lawless.
Several high-impact collisions since the beginning of March. See photos below and our photo album:
Thanks for your help.
Joseph
