We are nearing the end of the first annual update of the City's Integrated Development Ordinance (IDO). The annual update process started with a series of 12 public meetings and open houses in April 2019 to review proposed changes. The City's official review/decision process began in September 2019 and has included 6 hearings by the Environmental Planning Commission, 3 hearings by City Council's Land Use, Planning, and Zoning (LUPZ) Committee, and 1 hearing by the full City Council.
These proposed updates to the City's zoning code include a wide range of changes, from minor clarifications of the original intent of specific standards to major amendments that would introduce new regulations, such as a new review process to help mitigate the cumulative impacts of auto-oriented and industrial uses on neighborhoods near the railroad.
The City Council will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, September 16th at 3:00 p.m. to review these proposed changes for 2019. The agenda with details for commenting/viewing will be posted by 5 p.m. today.
