Subject: SOLICITATION OF PUBLIC INTEREST FOR ESTABLISHING A KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE RESTORATION ADVISORY BOARD
Dear Community Member:
The Department of Defense recognizes the importance of stakeholder participation in our installation restoration programs. Therefore, Kirtland AFB is soliciting public interest in the establishment of a Restoration Advisory Board (RAB). The RAB is intended to foster public participation by involving the community in the restoration process. Kirtland AFB currently holds approximately five public meetings per year, including three for the Bulk Fuels Facility remediation project and two for other Kirtland AFB environmental restoration sites.
The RAB will include community volunteer members living in the surrounding area who reflect the diverse interests of the local community. RAB members will have an opportunity to provide input on installation restoration activities.
Further, RAB members will be asked to meet regularly and will be expected to serve a term. All RAB meetings will be open to the public and will take the place of all current public meetings related to Kirtland AFB’s environmental restoration program.
Please complete and return the attached Community Interest Form (or complete the survey online at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KirtlandRAB) describing your level of interest and commitment. Feedback from the community will be used to support a recommendation to the Installation Commander on the level of community interest in establishing a Kirtland RAB.
If you have any comments or questions regarding the Restoration Program or the establishment of the RAB, please contact the following:
