Dear Nob Hill neighbors,

I'm writing to invite you to our Advent 2020 journey. The Advent season begins this Sunday. It will be a most unusual journey this year as we live with anticipation and expectation of what’s to come. Our Advent theme this year is “Imagining a New World” – with each week’s emphasis, respectively, on Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. Attached is our schedule for this year and here is a link to our newsletter for if you're interested in ways that we continue to be church for a hurting world in this difficult time: MVCC 11-25-20 newsletter. Scripture texts for this First Sunday in Advent are: 1Corinthians 1:3-9 & Isaiah 64:1-9. Sermon title is "Imagining a New World: Hope". When times are difficult and there’s no end in sight, we might be crying out for God to open the heavens and come down” to right the wrongs in the world. What encourages you to hold on to the hope of God in Christ? Where do you find the hope of God in Christ making a difference in people’s lives? In what ways might God be calling us to embrace hope in our lives and embody hope for others in these challenging times?
The service will continue to be livestreamed to our ‘VistaStream’ Youtube channel (https://montevista.org/vistastream) for viewing in real time or later, and to our church Facebook page for viewing later. Here is the Zoom link for this Sunday's service: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87664010691... Meeting ID: 876 6401 0691 Passcode: 450663 Hear a message of hope in God that's inclusive, expansive, & present among us. We invite you to create your worship space, with items that make it meaningful for you, including a candle (of any kind), your Communion elements, and whatever else invites you into a worshipful presence with God. We believe that the Lord's Table is open to everyone; all are welcomed to share in Communion at the invitation of Christ. The worship packet is available for download from montevista.org. If you have prayer concerns you'd like to share, either confidential for our pastor only or for our congregation's prayer list, please email them to me at revdawn@montevista.org. Be well. Be safe. Be healthy. Be connected. MVCC is a 90-year old congregation in historic Nob Hill. We are an Open & Affirming congregation where everyone is welcomed, included, needed, & matters to God and to us.

Blessings of hope,
Rev. Dawn
