Special Procedures for City Council Meeting on Monday, March 1, 2021
In response to the Governor’s declaration of a Public Health Emergency and ban on large public gatherings, the City Council Meeting on Monday, March 1 at 3:00 p.m. will be held via Zoom video conference. Members of the public will have the ability to view the meeting through GOVTV on Comcast Channel 16, or to stream live on the GOVTV website at https://www.cabq.gov/culturalservices/govtv, or on YouTube at https://youtu.be/skuEUOkrcTo. The GOVTV live stream can be accessed at these addresses from most smartphones, tablets, or computers. The video recording of this and all past meetings of the City Council will also remain available for viewing at any time on the City’s website.  Council Staff is available to help members of the public access pre-recorded Council meetings on-line at any time during normal business hours. Please call 768-3100 for assistance. The agenda for the meeting is posted on the City Council website at: https://cabq.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx. The Council will take general public comment and comment on the meeting’s specific agenda items in verbal and written form via this link https://www.cabq.gov/council/find-your-councilor/public-comments through 1:00 pm on Monday, March 1. Participants have the ability to select if they require Spanish language interpretation when signing up. The Council will take general public comment on any topic, including agenda items, from up to a maximum of 20 people, on a first-come first-serve basis. To provide real time verbal public comment over Zoom, participants must sign up for public comment at the link above. Written comments will be distributed to all Councilors for review in advance of the meeting.

 

CPOA Board Meeting This Week
The Civilian Police Oversight Agency (CPOA) will meet Tuesday, March 2 via Zoom at 3:00 p.m. and the public is welcome and encouraged to attend. The CPOA receives, investigates and reviews complaints and commendations submitted by community members for/against the Albuquerque Police Department, and reviews Albuquerque Police Department policies, practices, and procedures, making recommendation to the Chief of Police. PNM COVID Relief Program for Small Businesses and Non-Profit 
PNM is helping small businesses and on-profits with the power they need to operate, and are providing financial help. To qualify, a small business must be:

  • Registered with the New Mexico Secretary of State
  • On Small Power Service (PNM 2A or 2B rate)
  • Be a nonprofit 501(c)3 or a small business in one of the following industries: restaurant, retail, hospitality, services (e.g. salon, massage business, small automotive garage), or leisure/entertainment with 50 or fewer employees
  • An active non-residential PNM Electric customer for the past 6 months
  • Experiencing financial hardships due to COVID-19, with a past due account

Free Bus and Sun Van Fares for Senior Citizens, Students and Military Veterans Beginning Monday, March 1
Starting Monday, March 1, ABQ RIDE is offering free bus and Sun Van fares for senior citizens age 60 and over, students age 25 and younger with their college ID or class schedule, and military veterans. Bunnies For Adoption Through Bernalillo County
Bernalillo County Animal Care Services officers recently took possession of 169 rabbits that were surrendered by the owners.
There are still several rabbits available for adoption. Anyone wishing to adopt a rabbit(s) is encouraged to visit www.bernco.gov/animal-care-services and fill out a rabbit adoption interest card. Bernalillo County Animal Care Services staff will then contact those people to make an appointment to come into the facility. Please remember to wear a mask and follow all required social distancing protocols when you arrive at the shelter.

 

State Parks Now Open To All Visitors For Day Visits
New Mexico State Parks are now open for all visitors for day trips, and limited camping trips are available by reservation only. Some state parks have seasonal closures, so it's important to know which parks are currently open before you make plans to head out. Social distancing mandates apply for all visitors and campers. Rail Runner Resuming Limited Service Starting Monday, March 8
