City Council Committee Meetings This Week
Three City Council Committees will meet via Zoom this week as follow:
  • Finance & Government Operations Committee (FGO), Monday, August 9 at 3:00 p.m.
  • Public Safety Committee (PSC), Tuesday, August 10 at 3:00 p.m.
  • Land Use, Planning and Zoning Committee, Wednesday, August 11 at 3:00 p.m.

Plaza Fiesta Community Grower's Market Coming to Mesa Verde Community Center this Weekend!
There's a new grower's market in town! The Plaza Fiesta Community Grower's Market will come to the Mesa Verde Community Center this Saturday, August 14 at 3:00 p.m. and will continue each Saturday until further notice. There will be local vendors selling fruits, vegetables and other food, and other locally made goodies, so come out and support our local vendors! FCS Updating Housing & Neighborhood Economic Development Fund Plan and Needs Your Feedback
The City's Family and Community Services (FCS) Department is updating their 2002 Housing and Neighborhood Economic Development Fund Plan, and want your feedback. FCS wants to learn more about the issues and opportunities in the study area. Here is a map of the study area and a list of neighborhoods being surveyed. https://www.cabq.gov/family/partner-resources/meeting-minutes-agendas/housing-neighborhood-economic-development-committee/housing-and-neighborhood-economic-development-fund-hnedf-plan-update. If you or someone you know lives within one of the areas on the map, please take the survey that is included in the link above and share your thoughts on how these neighborhoods can benefit. The survey is available in both English and Spanish.
City Open Space Division Offering Walking Tours and Listening Sessions on the San Antonio Oxbow Extension (Poole Property) to the Public
The Open Space Division wants your ideas about what the City should do with the recently acquired San Antonio Oxbow Extension property, also known as the Poole Property. There are numerous ideas being discussed on what should be done with this beautiful land. Open Space is offering three separate walking and listening sessions to the public and you're encouraged to attend and share your ideas! 
 
  • Saturday, September 4 at 9:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, September 15 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 6 at 5:30 p.m.
All walking and listening tours take place at 5001 Namaste Rd NW, and participants are asked to wear appropriate walking attire and shoes. To learn more about these tours, visit: www.cabq.gov/openspace
NMDOT Hosting Online Public Meeting for I-25 Improved Project and Wants Your Feedback
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is hosting an online Public Meeting for the I-25 Improved project on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 6 p.m. The project team will discuss proposed improvements to the I-25 corridor in Albuquerque between Comanche Road and Montgomery Boulevard, including the freeway, frontage roads and interchanges. West Fest Returns to the Alamosa/Ted M. Gallegos Community Center in September!
The West Fest festival is coming back in September! West Fest takes place Saturday, September 25 at the Alamosa/Ted M. Gallegos Community Center and you're invited to be there! Vendor and car show applications are currently being accepted so apply online at: www.wccdg.org. There will be food trucks, live music and so much more. This great community event is hosted by the West Central Community Development Group and many others.
Lavender Libros Continues This Week with APD Chief of Staff Commander Cecily Barker
The Lavender Libros literacy initiative continues this week with Commander Cecily Barker, Chief of Staff for the Albuquerque Police Department (APD). Commander Barker will read Mama’s Little Duckling by Margorie Blain Parker this Wednesday, August 11. Lavender Libros is an online literacy program that encourages our children in Albuquerque to read as often as possible.
