Special Procedures for City Council Meeting on Monday, August 16, 2021

In response to the ongoing Public Health Emergency, the City Council Meeting on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. will be held via Zoom video conference. Members of the public will have the ability to view the meeting through GOVTV on Comcast Channel 16, or to stream live on the GOVTV website at https://www.cabq.gov/culturalservices/govtv, or on YouTube at https://youtu.be/21SjD9hEVfY. The GOVTV live stream can be accessed at these addresses from most smartphones, tablets, or computers. The video recording of this and all past meetings of the City Council will also remain available for viewing at any time on the City’s website. Council Staff is available to help members of the public access pre-recorded Council meetings on-line at any time during normal business hours. Please call 505-768-3100 for assistance. The agenda for the meeting is posted on the City Council website at: https://cabq.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx.
The Council will take general public comment and comment on the meeting’s specific agenda items in verbal and written form via this link https://www.cabq.gov/council/find-your-councilor/public-comments through 3:00 pm on Monday, August 16. Participants have the ability to select if they require Spanish language interpretation when signing up. The Council will take general public comment on agenda items. To provide real time verbal public comment over Zoom, participants must sign up for public comment at the link above. Written comments will be distributed to all Councilors for review in advance of the meeting.

 

Feedback from Community Sought at Upcoming In-Person Mobile Speed Enforcement Public Meeting
The community is invited to attend an in-person meeting on Tuesday, August 17 at 6:00 p.m. at the Palo Duro Senior Center, 5221 Palo Duro NE, and learn about the proposed Automated Speed Enforcement Ordinance O-21-69. Please note that masks are required for this meeting. City Open Space Division Offering Walking Tours and Listening Sessions on the San Antonio Oxbow Extension (Poole Property) to the Public
The Open Space Division wants your ideas about what the City should do with the recently acquired San Antonio Oxbow Extension property, also known as the Poole Property. There are numerous ideas being discussed on what should be done with this beautiful land. Open Space is offering three separate walking and listening sessions to the public and you're encouraged to attend and share your ideas! 
 

  • Saturday, September 4 at 9:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, September 15 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 6 at 5:30 p.m.

All walking and listening tours take place at 5001 Namaste Rd NW, and participants are asked to wear appropriate walking attire and shoes. To learn more about these tours, visit: www.cabq.gov/openspace

West Fest Returns to the Alamosa/Ted M. Gallegos Community Center in September!
The West Fest festival is coming back in September! West Fest takes place Saturday, September 25 at the Alamosa/Ted M. Gallegos Community Center and you're invited to be there! Vendor and car show applications are currently being accepted so apply online at: www.wccdg.org. There will be food trucks, live music and so much more. This great community event is hosted by the West Central Community Development Group and many others.

 

Bernalillo County Headquarters Offices Now Open to the Public!
The county’s new administrative headquarters, at 415 Silver Ave. SW, is now open for business as of today, Monday, August 16. Grand opening festivities are postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions. Bernalillo County @ Alvarado Square is 282,000-square-feet, has eight floors, a basement and new adjoined 12,000-square-foot commission chambers that will seat 200 people. Customers can now take care of county business with the clerk, assessor, treasurer, probate judge, commission, Planning & Development and more in one building. There is also free public parking available across the street at Fifth and Silver. Anyone entering BernCo @ Alvarado Square is required to wear a mask and social distancing is encouraged. Lavender Libros Continues This Week with Comcast Universal External Affairs Coordinator
The Lavender Libros literacy initiative continues this week with Erin Muffoletto, Comcast Universal External Affairs Coordinator. Ms. Muffoletto will read her favorite children's book this Wednesday, August 18. Lavender Libros is an online literacy program that encourages our children in Albuquerque to read as often as possible.
