Friends at the NHNA,
Thank you for the opportunity to serve on the organization’s board these last two years and to serve as your Vice President. After much deliberation I have decided to leave the organization when my two year board seat commitment ends in September.
I make this decision for a number of reasons. Between my business, family and creative commitments my plate really is very full.
I must say also that I have become somewhat frustrated with the way that my work with the association has gone. At times I have found it difficult to move initiatives forward in a meaningful way and a great deal of the ideas I have brought to the table have become unrecognizable to me by the time we see any results. At the moment, I must confess to feeling that the NHNA may not be the best venue for my community involvement. I know that my frustration has shown several times recently, I think it is best to recognize what has been generally a very positive experience and move on. It may be that I am simply not that interested in what goes into the sausage of neighborhood politics now that I have spent some time as a part of it. That having been said I am very grateful for all of you and people like Gary Eyster who are quite adept at it. It has been a real learning experience to watch such a master in action.
Perhaps in the future I will be able to return and try again. At the moment I feel that I’ve given the best of myself that I could to NHNA for the duration of my two year commitment and am looking forward to stepping away and focusing on other projects.
Warmest regards to all. I’ll look forward to seeing everyone this week for my last meeting and to seeing everyone around our fabulous neighborhood.
Best,
David
