Subject: CABQ FCS: We want to hear from you on the Behavioral Health Joint Strategic Plan!

Dear Community Partners and Stakeholders,

Over the course of the past year, the City and County have been working collaboratively to build upon various pieces of work around behavioral health service needs and gaps in the community. In June 2021, The City and the County published the gap analysis on current and needed services for behavioral health and housing. The work of the assessment included convening community partners and city stakeholders across Albuquerque, surveying residents to learn more about the key issues facing the health and safety of Albuquerque’s communities. In January 2022, the City and County released the “System Gap Analysis Addendum,” which includes updated estimates for the number of people who need services as well as the estimated costs to provide these services.

To inform the Joint Strategic Plan, the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County also facilitated a Community Member Feedback Forum and a Community Provider Feedback Forum that were held in January of 2022. Additionally, a community survey was distributed to solicit further input and information. The survey was open between December 20, 2021 and February 28, 2022.  Surveys were distributed to listservs and posted online. We are excited to announce that the public survey results and the community forum analysis are now available for review at https://www.cabq.gov/family/news/city-of-albuquerque-bernalillo-county-system-gap-analysis.

City, County, and State partners have joined together to develop a joint strategic plan to direct the development of services and support of our community over the next two years. This work builds on our public involvement work mentioned above. We are interested in hearing feedback from the community on what is needed to better support individuals in our communities and to support the development of a timeline for actionable items.

We want input from the community about behavioral health and to gather further input around the proposed draft plan. We will be soliciting feedback through Monday, July 4, 2022. It is our vision to enable healthy communities that thrive, communities where people are connected, supported, safe, and well. In order to support our city’s growth and to reach this vision, we need to know the ways behavioral health and public safety affect you and your feedback on these topics.

Please review the draft strategic plan and provide your feedback via the following email: bh-strategicplan@cabq.gov.

We appreciate the support and patience of those championing this work and we look forward to hearing your feedback!
