In reading the multitude of responses to this request, I am inspired to include my own opinion. It is clear that Jana is not trying to set up an exclusive Cannabis dispensary, but to slightly increase the scope of the products she already offers for the benefit of her already existing customers. Sounds reasonable to me, and I support this expansion of her business. Are we perhaps making a mountain out of a molehill here? As a clarification: I am not a current customer, but am sympathetic._______________________________________________

Subject: Re: [Neighbors] Cannabis retail conditional use request
Application was made for a second cannabis store on Menaul near Valencia as well at a location that was formerly a pawn shop. The two Cannabis stores are on both sides of Viet Taste Restaurant probably less than 250 ft apart. We already have many homeless roaming the neighborhood and small alcohol bottles and fast food trash invading our streets.Seeing a person smoking marijuana who has bipolar one go from hypomanic to full blown psychotic manic is not a pretty sight. People are not thinking about the psychological implications of all this smoking pot. What are we teaching the younger generation here?

I oppose another one going in. How about distributing them more throughout the city?Nancy Koenigsberg--On Thu, Jul 28, 2022 at 12:23 PM mike via Neighbors_nobhill-nm <neighbors_nobhill-nm@mailman.swcp.com> wrote:_______________________________________________Agree.... I am against it. It seems to me that there are several establishments already all around the City that we do not "need" to allow exceptions in any portion of town. It already feels like there is a dispensary on every other corner. Also, Nob Hill doesn't need to attract this type of clientele to our neighborhood. I read many emails that are against the allowance of those that sell alcohol I dont think cannabis is any better.Lisa Lopez300 Block of Montclaire NE

Because cannabis retail has only recently been legalized by the state, the NHNA has not heard neighbors' opinions on this topic and does not have a policy for cases like these. We would like neighborhood input. In particular, we would like to understand the neighborhood's views on the density of cannabis retail locations along Central, from Girard to Washington. Here are some details about this case and the process. From the ZHE, the details of the request are:VA-2022-00155 Project# PR-2019- 002179 Jana Quintero requests a conditional use to allow for cannabis retail within 600 ft of another cannabis retail location for Lot 6, Block 8, Mesa Grande Addn, located at 4012 Central Ave SE, zoned MX-M [Section 14-16-4- 3(D)(35)(c)]A facilitated meeting with the applicant was held on July 18th, and the meeting report is attached. As part of the meeting, the NHNA proposed the applicant could have an open house so people could understand the business. The applicant has responded by offering a shop tour on August 5th.As a reminder, the NHNA has no legal authority to approve or deny a conditional use; that is the role of the Zoning Hearing Examiner (ZHE). However, the NHNA does provide input on all ZHE requests that fall within the NHNA's boundaries. The applicant will present their request at the regular meeting of the NHNA Board of Directors on August 10th.You can send feedback by replying to this thread, emailing the Board directly at theboard@nobhill-nm.com, or in person at the NHNA Board meeting on August 10th.--Greg WeirsNHNA Urban Planning Committee--
