For those interested in offering a written response, an opposition to the variance, the link here does not provide a way to make a statement.  This seems like a serious problem, or omission.  

If you look down the agenda for the 16th there is another request for a cannabis variance, it is the last item, No. 32:  

VA-2022-00174. Annie Sais requests a conditional use to allow a cannabis retail establishment within 600 ft of another cannabis retail establishment for Lot 2, Block 4, Bel Air, located at 2639 San Mateo Blvd NE, zoned MX-L [Section 14-16-4-3(D)(35)(C)] 

As was discussed at out meeting Monday night this is opening the door to cannabis outlets door to door in our neighborhoods.

And if you look at Agenda Item 11 is for a variance to allow cannabis cultivation within 300 ft. of a school or day care on Tennessee St NE.

And Item 22 is for another cannabis variance on Eubank NE. within 600 ft of another cannabis outlet.

t is important that the neighborhoods get involved in this attempt to toss out the IDO protections.

A facilitated meeting with the applicant was held on July 18th, and the meeting report is attached. As part of the meeting, the NHNA proposed the applicant could have an open house so people could understand the business. The applicant has responded by offering a shop tour on August 5th.

As a reminder, the NHNA has no legal authority to approve or deny a conditional use; that is the role of the Zoning Hearing Examiner (ZHE). However, the NHNA does provide input on all ZHE requests that fall within the NHNA's boundaries. 

The applicant will present their request at the regular meeting of the NHNA Board of Directors on August 10th.
