Subject: 3rd Annual Bennie Hargrove Giving Tree
Hello!
I’m reaching out to the Crime Prevention Specialists to see if you all would love to participate in helping the Criminal Investigation Division with our 3rd Annual Bennie Hargrove Giving Tree!
The Bennie Hargrove Giving Tree started in 2020 and it’s our way of helping give back to families who have been victim to violent crimes.
The giving tree is to honor Bennie Hargrove, a young brave boy who was taken too soon. Bennie was shot and killed at Washington Middle School while defending a classmate.
We ask the detectives at CID to each nominate one family that they believe could really benefit from some extra love and support during a hard holiday season. 10 families total will be selected that includes the immediate family which could often times be multiple kids within the home, all 18 years old or younger.
This year, we will be doing things a little differently and we will be hosting an event for the chosen families to come out to and enjoy food, games, gifts, food basket and Santa of course! The event will take place December 22, 2023 if you’d also like to show support. J
If you would like to participate at your area’s substation/community, we are asking if you could start including a portion in your monthly community letter about the giving tree and asking the public for donations. We would like to keep it easy with gift cards: Walmart, Smith’s, Amazon, Target, Visa or food gift cards for places out to eat or entertainment. No cash will be accepted. If you would like to participate, I will provide a gift card drop box for your substation!
The deadline for all donations will be December 1 that way we ensure we have enough time to organize!
Please let me know If you’d like to participate and if you have any questions!
Thank you!
