Unfortunately, that's the going rate these days for a new mini split for that size home. And 15 years is an average lifespan. I'm in the same boat so I'll be very interested folks's reports here. Good news is if your house is in the cultural district and in "contributing" condition, Harvey may be able to help with a 1/2 tax credit. I was approved for one just as the pandemic hit so we didn't opt to do it right away; but it does qualify if the conditions are met. I believe the NHNA web site has the link to the state site where you can read the rules and apply.
