I hear stories of how eating/dinning habits have changed due to the ability to order in food with things like DoorDash, etc. probably accelerated by the pandemic quarantine years.
All these closings were not suppose to happen with the A.R.T. The A.R.T. planners told us things would be so rosy if we tore up our community as they fantasied. City council should start a plan to remove this spaghetti mess on Central, it has clearly failed.
Another part of this is the growing economic inequality among people who are being forced out of living spaces and onto the streets due to lack of afforatible housing for various reasons. It is real. We are seeing this more and more and it is going to get worse I fear. We need to work to manage the needs of the unhoused where they are, help them with food and shelter, showers, clothes, etc. not transport people to the far out west side shelter or the dedicated service center on Gibson. We either manage this problem or it overruns us. The city must open a drop in center for these folks right here so the people in need can find help and not wander around aimlessly.
We must work to build the kind of community we wish to live in or the zoning officer to fill up our neighborhood up with more Imbibes and cannabis shops. Zoning calls it recreation and entertainment but this is not the kind of businesses that enhance a livable and attractive place to live. It turns us into a place where a clientele comes in and leaves, leaving us with shootings and drugs on the street and cars zooming around with no mufflers or emissions equipment polluting the air.
Thanks to the NHNA which has worked hard to build a livable community for us, let’s not let the business. any business at any cost destroy us.

It might have happened a while ago, but I noticed today that Gecko's on Academy looks closed. Last I looked, ours is still open. So closures aren't just in Nob Hill.
