316 Plaque Close-up Best

In its fall newsletter your neighborhood association announced its intention to fund New Mexico Register of Cultural Places plaques on three qualifying Nob Hill houses. This was our 9th annual drawing honoring David Kammer, Nob Hilleņo and architectural historian, who was instrumental in the listing of the 1926 Monte Vista and College View Historic District in the New Mexico and National Registers of Historic Places.

Recently we got some disappointing news on the cost of plaques. The NM Historical Society takes orders and gets the plaques made by a contractor. Plaques were $265 including shipping until 6 years ago when they went to $285 including shipping. The society just informed us the supplier is raising the price to $495 plus shipping.

Your board had OK’d $855 to buy plaques for 3 Nob Hill houses. Because of this price increase we had to fall back to 2 plaques. We held the drawing at our November board meeting. The 2 houses drawn are:

329 Amherst Dr NE

4104 Ridgely Ave. NE

We’ll reach out to their owners and start the research to develop a citation for their plaque with them. When they arrive we will help mount their plaques.

See the 58 Nob Hill houses with plaques and maps showing contributing houses at https://www.nobhill-nm.com/resources/neighborhood-history/history-p4/

If you are interested in purchasing your own plaque we are happy to help you with the process and mount the plaque. Just reply here.

If you have a line on a supplier who could make plaques for less than $495 please let us know and we’ll pass that to the society.
