Neighbors,

These are challenging times for your neighborhood association. At the Annual Meeting in September, no new Directors were elected (or nominated) and three Directors completed their terms. This leaves your Board with four Directors, the lowest number in at least two decades.

The work your neighborhood association can accomplish is directly related to the number of people that participate. Please consider the following ways you might contribute.

The efforts of the NHNA are led by the board of Directors. As delineated in the NHNA Bylaws, the Board can appoint Directors to fill vacancies. When the Board has fewer than six Directors the unfilled seats are vacancies, the Board can appoint two Directors. Appointed Directors would serve until the next Annual Meeting (September 2025) rather than a two-year term. If you would like to be considered for the Board, please send a statement to theboard@nobhill-nm.com.

Over the past five years the Board has organized NHNA efforts through committees, with the intent of having Members (as opposed to Directors) make up the majority of each committee. We have had some success with this approach, as volunteers can focus on topics of interest to them. Our Committees are:

Please consider joining a committee. Or, if you have another topic you are passionate about, propose a committee you would like to lead! One potential topic is obtaining funding through grants or Councilor Rogers’s Participatory Budgeting process.

Finally, there are several areas where the Board could use specific assistance:

Our Nob Hill is a wonderful neighborhood because of its people. You contribute to the sense of place and the depth of the community when you attend association events, engage through the email list, deliver newsletters, or just chat with your neighbors. We appreciate you and thank you for all you do!
