Thank you for all of the information regarding Quirky Books.  I’m happy to hear it’s on the radar and action is being taken.

All of the news articles were also very informative and helpful.

My understanding from attending Project Echo, speaking with APD, and speaking with one of the neighboring businesses:

*  Quirky Books is being fined daily via Code Enforcement (hearing was held within the last month regarding this issue)
*  Neighboring businesses - architect, automotive shop, real estate brokerage have all been negatively impacted by the situation according to the one business owner that has been actively working on behalf of businesses on the street.  There have been letters / emails sent to Mayor's office, City Council, etc from these businesses
*  According to APD, they have made multiple arrests due to "open air drug use"
*  I believe Quirky Books does have opportunity to get a permit for the encampment, not sure if that is in process or not?
*  This has been going on for at least a year is my understanding

Hope this information helps.  Chris

Hello Neighbors,

True, Quirky is not located in Nob Hill, but of course we're all concerned for those suffering from lack of shelter and basic necessities, no matter the location.  From the article that Van just shared, it looks like the owner of Quirky is trying their best to alleviate some of that suffering, and have the resources to do so, including legal council. I'll try to stop in there more often to support the business.  Another way to help is through our own Nob Hill Neighborhood Association's "Hilleños Helping Unhoused Folks" committee.  I believe that they put together care/sanitary packages for those in need.

Hi Neighbors,

Has anyone seen the unhoused encampment that has developed at the Quirky Bookstore?

The bookstores parking lot located at Copper and Jefferson, about 1 block East of Nob Hill.

7-10 tents, abandoned vehicles and the unhoused living in the cars, tents and parking lot grounds.  Which is now starting to spill over into the parking lot across the street as well.  Fringing near Nob Hill.

Does anyone know more info?  Is this a temporary circumstance?

It seems unsafe, unsanitary for all involved including surrounding businesses and homeowners/renters.

Our family owns a rental property in Nob Hill and we are receiving concerns about safety and reports of drug use almost daily.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Krista Sena

We are thinking of putting an addition onto our property, and are looking
for an architect who could do the plans, knows all the codes and has
experience with the permitting process.  This would be basically a simple
room addition, and it might fall under the new ADU category. Any
recommendations are appreciated.
