I am nearing completion on a bathroom remodel on the 60+ year old old addition to my 98 year old house. I decided to use a contractor I connected through through Floor and Decor by the name of Alberto Hernandez of AH Property Solutions.

I am delighted with the work they have done so far. What started out as a fairly easy job of demoing the tiles, doing some basic plumbing to remove galvanized pipe in the walls and adding a pocket door got more extensive when we encountered very old water damage and dry rot. This led to removing and replacing all the wall studs around the shower (including two outer walls) and replacing all the floor joists under the shower. Yikes. On the bright side, opening everything up gave us the chance to set a few things right. See early progress picture below.

A great thing here is that Alberto and Miguel, the lead on my job, are general contractors. That meant they could address the issues they ran into with no hesitation or delay. That included carpentry, the plumbing, moving switches and outlets, and tile work. We’re estimating this job will be done by Saturday, putting them at 2 work weeks and a day with all the extra crazy. (The original estimate was 12 days.)
