Thank you, Rufus. These are good points. They will be front and center Tuesday evening.
We need to parse some ideas as we develop our plan.
-
We understand that Heritage and the Co-op have agreed on 2 spaces in front and 10 in the back for Co-op use, although the Co-op is paying for them.
-
In their Sept. 11 email, Heritage says: Heritage offers employees of Nob Hill Shopping Center tenants parking at a reduced tenant rate of slightly over $1 per day.
-
IN that email Heritage also says: Our goal.....is to strengthen the property with a thoughtful mix of local businesses, services, food and beverage and other uses that serve the surrounding community.
I urge Hilleņos to explore how we can make the outcomes we want attractive to Heritage. How do we incent them to implement the outcomes we want? Let's get creative Tuesday evening.
The email ball is in our court. Here is a straw man email to Heritage we can discuss tomorrow night.
Thank you, Debra, for your response of Sept. 11.
We are pleased that you are addressing affordable employee parking and that you appreciate our passion to see the center remain a vibrant neighborhood-serving destination. We earnestly hope the Co-op will be in the center's future. We're pleased that you want
to continue the dialogue with our association. We continue to advocate for free parking at the center. Many in our community advocate for removal of parking meters.
The community has been forming creative ideas that could benefit us and Heritage. There is one major opportunity as a start: The congregation of Immanuel Presbyterian Church has donated the property to the state of NM. With its 500-seat sanctuary and its amazing
acoustics, we want to see it devoted to arts and culture. Performances and daily arts use would benefit community life and create positive traffic to the shopping center. We invite you to join us in influencing state leaders to do that. NM Senator Sedillo-Lopez
is supportive and has set up a zoom meeting with the NM General Services Dept. on Nov. 5.
We are eager to get together and brainstorm this action and others that benefit Heritage and the people of Nob Hill.

Subject: [Neighbors] special meeting/co-op parking
Dear neighbors and NHNA board,
In anticipation of Tuesday's Special Meeting on Zoom, I wanted to summarize what the community requested of the board on September 1.
1. Ask Heritage to re-instate free parking as it has existed before and establish La Montanita Coop as the Center's anchor tenant going forward. Provide reasonable employee parking rates.
2. Ask Heritage to meet with and engage with NHNA, Main Street, and other interested parties to collaborate on a successful development strategy for the center as part of wider Nob Hill re-vitalization.
3. Advocate for transparency about master plans and development goals for the center.
4. Advocate for a mix of tenants that is of interest to the neighborhood as well as visitors.
None of these requests involve defamatory or disparaging language.
Engaging meaningfully on these issues will be a great opportunity for board members to increase memberships in NHNA. People are always grateful when their concerns are heard!
Sincerely
Rufus Cohen
