Hello Skiers,
On Saturday, November 21, five Ski Club members completed fall maintenance of Corral Canyon Trail in the Jemez Mountains about one-half mile SW of Valle Grande. The sawyers and swampers (sawyers assistants) hiked a round-trip distance of 4 miles, and the elevation change was 760 feet. Approximately 30 fallen trees were removed from the trail, and the maximum diameter was 23 inches.
Project photos are presented in the attached Word document.
The most significant improvement in the trail was removal of three logs (diameters of 10 to 23 inchces) from the trail at the upper crossing of the creek so that skiers, hikers, snowshoers, and bicyclists can follow the old Armijo Ranch road from the trailhead to Junction Meadow without making a detour around these logs.
The Ski Club members were Dana Price, Tom Broadbent, Bill Savage, Michael Arndt, and Sam Beard.
