The ski basin did ask people not to use their runs to protect their employees and others from Covid. Last year after they closed the parking lot was full of people wanting to ski up. Got this info from a ski shop owner in SF.

Hi, I'm very curious about discussions of this as well, as I'm new to this group.

If you go to their facebook page, SSF posted last week asking people not to skin up and ski down while they are shut down, they don't want people messing up their trails and getting in their way while they are preparing to open.

Currently, the only ski-able snow up there is what SSF has made on their trails, at their expense (unless I'm mistaken?), so in that sense it's not cool to skin up and ski down on their trails before they are even allowed to open.... on the other hand, last March when they asked people not to ski, it seemed ungenerous on their end since they weren't going to make any more money last spring anyway.  Plus when there is natural snow up there on public land, seems people should be able to enjoy it...
Of course, there is the safety issue for some people.  And they are using their snow makers now, so that can be another safety issue.

That's all I've gathered at this point; I did go visit the Norski trail Wednesday afternoon, looked like some skiers went early in the morning before it was all trampled by walkers (which it was by the time I got there at 2).  And it was halfway melted there by afternoon.
