Subject: [Sandia Nordic Ski Club] Regarding fallen trees near Switchback trail
--Hi Everyone,I received a the following message from FOSM relating to the earlier messages about the fallen trees "on Switchback":"A FOSM member, who works on the Crest Area trails and knows the system very well, snowshoed all the Crest Area official ski trails today and found no trees down on any of the trails. Apparently Robert was talking about an old segment of trail that Kerry Wood (USFS) does not want maintained, and CTR has not been maintaining it. It is above and parallel to the extreme lower part of Switchback Trail. I saw this old trial segment recently, and there were trees across it. FOSM/CTR members are currently discussing this topic via several emails, and CTR will probably not be removing these logs."
The beginning of the Switchback trail is located on the right about 100 yards south of the gate across from the Ellis lot restrooms. It is clearly marked. There is a user trail close to the gate that can be easily confused with the Switchback trail. Please do not cut any trees in the area where they have all fallen, as that trail has been, and should remain closed per USFS.
Thank you,
Scott
