Before committing to the Brazos, especially after a major winter storm, it's a good idea to check NMRoads [linked below] to see if US-64 is open. I've been burned a few times by not checking. If a winter storm drops more than about 8" in the Chama area, it seems that the US-64 corridor between TA and TP is subject to being closed for a few days. And like all web-based information, it may or may not be up to date. I always have a Plan-B, driving up to Cumbress Pass, when skiing up there.
