Before I get started- thanks so much everyone for the replies about Santa fe area. I’m quarantined so I decided to stay away from crowded trails, so I had another day of bushwhacking in the Jemez, with good snow where it’s shady and not much left anywhere that’s open.
Keith,
I went to the Jemez today and skied at Los Griegos. That’s my usual place to go in the Jemez because it’s mostly north facing.
On the way there I thought I wouldn’t be able to ski, everything you can see from the highway that’s south facing is just patches of snow with more ground showing than snow. There had been 2-3” in the last storm, from the snow on the pullout at los Griegos.
The snow in shaded places was very nice, with just a few bare or icy spots where the sun hits. Down low there had been a lot of walkers and snowshoers but after starting to climb all these tracks dropped out and it was just me following my tracks from 2 weeks ago.
It’s almost impossible to go beyond Griegos junction with all the downed trees. Plus there’s an attack skunk guarding another skunk’s carcass on the upper Ladera trail. No kidding!
If you don’t mind having to step over some logs and go through some brush and if you like being alone with the wildlife it’s not bad. It will probably still be okay tomorrow if you’re careful. But I won’t go back until there’s a lot more snow.
Dana

Is the website down? I can't get on. Also, anyone know current conditions of Jemez?
Thanks!
